What the Wall Panel Calculator actually calculates
The engine subtracts openings from wall area, applies waste, divides by panel area, and rounds up. This is an area estimate, not a panel layout. It cannot tell whether a panel reaches the wall height, whether offcuts are reusable, or whether a repeating finish requires extra pieces.
The calculation path
Net wall area is adjusted for waste and divided by one panel’s area.
Inputs that can change the answer
- Wall width: Enter wall width in m.
- Wall height: Enter wall height in m.
- Openings: Enter openings in m².
- Panel width: Enter panel width in m.
- Panel height: Enter panel height in m.
- Waste: Percentage applied at the stage shown in the method; enter 10 for ten percent.
Checks that stay outside the formula
Plan panel joints around sockets and wall features before cutting.
A practical order for entering the data
- Measure the wall width and height, and total the opening areas to exclude.
- Enter the coverage width and height of one panel in metres.
- Set a cutting allowance, then compare the whole-panel estimate with a sketch of seams and panel orientation.

Engine check using the prefilled sample
Worked example: wall width = 4 m, wall height = 2.7 m, openings = 0 m², panel width = 0.6 m, panel height = 2.4 m and waste = 10 %. Replace the sample wall and item dimensions with the exact section and product format involved in your layout.
